Genesis Graduates Eight Companies from Enterprise
St. John’s, NL: Averro Robotics, BenchBoss, Castr, Granville Biomedical, Hyke, Milk Moovement, OliverPOS, and TxtSquad are the eight companies graduating today from Genesis’ three-year Enterprise program. Crafted for technology startups navigating their earliest years, Enterprise helps entrepreneurs develop their businesses from the ground up, attract early customers and work towards $1M in annual recurring revenues.
One of this year’s graduating companies, Milk Moovement, reflected positively on Genesis’ role in it’s journey. "At Milk Moovement, we credit much of our success to the startup ecosystem in Newfoundland & Labrador.” Remarked Jon King, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Milk Moovement, “From incubators to mentors to supporting agencies, it is clear that the community is committed to building world-class technology companies. We're incredibly grateful to those who've helped us along the way and are thrilled to celebrate this milestone of graduating from the Genesis Enterprise program."
Memorial University’s entrepreneurial community, of which Genesis is a focal point, has seen many students and alumni become involved in, and graduate from, Genesis programs.
Dr. Vianne Timmons, President & Vice-Chancellor of Memorial, says the university’s entrepreneurial spirit is well represented at today’s graduation:
“Memorial and Genesis are helping to build the next generation of great Newfoundland & Labrador companies. The diversity and ingenuity of this year’s class is cause to celebrate. The entire Memorial community wishes the graduates nothing but the warmest wishes today.”
Genesis and its client portfolio have also benefitted greatly from the support of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and the Department of Industry, Energy and Technology.
“Congratulations to all the businesses graduating today, as well as to Genesis on 25 years of supporting innovative companies. It is exciting to see these diverse, dynamic startups contributing to Newfoundland and Labrador’s growing tech sector, creating jobs here at home and competing on the world stage. The 2022 class joins the already impressive ranks of Genesis graduates and alumni and I can’t wait to see what they will achieve next,” said Joanne Thompson, Member of Parliament for St. John’s East, on behalf of the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).
Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology, also extended his congratulations: “As the tech industry continues to thrive, we remain focused on supporting entrepreneurs and growing the innovation economy in our province. I acknowledge the commitment of this year’s innovators, and wish them the very best in the days ahead. These graduates represent such an exciting future for Newfoundland and Labrador.”
Michelle Simms, President & CEO of Genesis, reflected on the significant growth of both Genesis and the Enterprise legacy. “It’s fitting that in our twenty-fifth year as an organization, our 2022 graduating class is our largest ever. It speaks to how much Newfoundland and Labrador’s startup community has grown and the special place it now holds in our province. The Genesis team and our wider support system has rallied behind these companies and the results speak to the huge amount of work that’s pushed us so far. Congratulations to all our amazing graduates!”
