Remembering Greg

This week, we learned of the passing of one of our former leaders and a champion for technology entrepreneurs in our province and across the country.

On January 3rd, Greg Hood, Genesis President & CEO from 2015-2016, passed peacefully.

Greg had a brief but very impactful tenure as CEO of our organization. Without a doubt, he left a lasting legacy on Genesis. Greg was the epitome of an entrepreneur. He challenged the status quo, was a determined and humble leader and made bold moves to take our organization to new heights.

Greg brought a level of energy with him to the workplace every day that was unmatched. He played the same song every morning when he got into the office. It was a song about having a great day, a testament to how Greg lived his life. He would pump up the team every morning with that song. He was full of energy and a lot of fun to work with.  He loved his family dearly and shared many stories with us about flying, water skiing and time spent at the cottage with them.

We kept in touch with Greg over the years and he would reach out almost every time we had a big announcement. He kept cheering us on from the sidelines. We are thankful to have had him working with us and thankful for the guidance and advice he gave our team, our startups and our community.

Today and always, we will remember Greg and celebrate his life. One that was full of purpose, laughter, determination and most of all fun!
